1 1/2 cup boiling water
1 cup oatmeal
1 stick butter
1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 eggs
1 1/2 cup flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
Topping:
1 stick butter
1/4 cup evaporated milk
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup coconut
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Directions:
Directions:
Mix together, boiling water, oats and butter. Let set for 20 minutes. Add sugars: cream together. Add vanilla and eggs. Beat well. Stir in dry ingredients ( flour, cinnamon, soda and salt.
Pour into well greased 9x13 cake pan.
Bake at 350º for 35 minutes
Topping:
Mix ingredients together and pour over cooled cake. Broil till brown

If you don't have a metal cake pan you will have to transfer cake to cookie sheet for browning.
