6 large green peppers
1 pound ground beef
½ cup diced onions
1 16 oz can tomatoes cut up
½ cup long grain rice
½ cup water
1 tsp salt
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 cup shredded American Cheese

Directions:

Pre-heat oven to 350º F

Cut tops from green peppers, discard seeds and membranes. Chop enough for the tops to make ¼ cup, set aside. Cook the whole green peppers, uncovered in boiling water for 5 minutes. Remover from water and invert to drain well.
Sprinkle insides of peppers lightly with salt.
In a skillet, cook the ground beef, onions, and the ¼ cup chopped green peppers until the meat is browned and the vegetables are tender. Drain off excess fat
Add undrained tomatoes, uncooked rice, water, salt, Worcestershire, and dash of pepper.
Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer 15 to 18 minutes or until the rice is tender. Stir in the cheese,
Stuff peppers with the meat mixture
Place stuffed peppers in a 10x6x2-inch baking dish,
Bake, covered for 30 to 35 minutes

Nana sometimes substitutes Cambell's tomato soup for the can of tomatoes
also substitute mozzarella cheese for American cheese, use a little extra mozzarella cheese on top of the stuffed peppers,
