2 cups molasses
2 cups brown sugar
1 1/2 cups cold water
2 cups, Crisco or Butter
3 eggs
10 cups flour
4 teaspoons baking soda
2 teaspoons salt
3 teaspoons allspice
3 teaspoons ginger
3 teaspoons cinnamon

In a medium mixing bowl Cream, the butter or Crisco and sugar together
Add eggs, one at a time thoroughly mixing between each one
Add molasses
In a separate bowl, mix the dry ingredients, Mix thoroughly
Alternate adding a quarter of the water and a quarter of the dry ingredient into a large mixing bowl, mixing thoroughly after each addition
After all ingredients are thoroughly mixed cover the dough with plastic wrap
Refrigerate overnight or at least six hours
Sprinkled the work surface with flower rollout the dough to approximately 1/4 of an inch thickness
Cut out cookies with your favorite cookie cutter bake 10 to 12 minutes at 3:50 or until they bounce back when likely touched in the cente

This is not the exact recipe that my grandmother used, but her written recipe was too difficult to read and make sense for a recipe so I have improvised!
These make great gingerbread man for frosted and decorated Christmas cookies!


Let the dough sit out for 30 min before cutting
Cut dough into 4 pieces and work with one piece at a time!
