3/4 cup of butter
1 cup of sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup of fancy molasses
2 cups and 2 tablespoons of flour
2 teaspoons of baking soda
1/4 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon of cloves
1/2 teaspoon of ginger
Extra sugar for dipping

Directions:
Directions:
Cream the butter and sugar together, then mix in the egg and molasses. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, salt, and spices. Gradually blend this into the butter mixture until well incorporated. Form the dough into walnut-sized balls, dip the tops in sugar, and press them flat with a fork. Bake at 375ºF for 8 to 10 minutes.
