1 c. margarine
2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. warm water
1 1/2 tsp. soda
4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt

Date Filling:
1 1/2 c. dates, cut up
3/4 c. water
3 tbsp. sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Cream margarine and brown sugar together. Add eggs and vanilla and beat again. Stir together water and soda, then add alternately with flour and salt. Mix well.

Cook date filling, stir filling until mushy and thick.

Grease cookie sheet. Place teaspoon of dough on sheet. Make an indent in the middle of the dough. Add 1/2 tsp. or more of filling into indent. Place a small amount of fought on top of filling to slightly cover dates.


Bake 350º for 10-12 minutes.
