1 cup butter (no substitutes), softened
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
3½ cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

Directions:
Directions:
In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Combine flour, baking soda and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture. Shape into three 10" rolls. Wrap each in waxed paper. Refrigerate 1 hour or until firm. Unwrap and cut into 3/8" slices; place on greased baking sheets. Sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 375º for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on wire racks.
