2 cups sugar
1 cup shortening (or use with half butter)
3 egg yolks
1 1/4 cups buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. almond extract
3 to 4 cups flour

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar, one cup at a time. Add egg yolks, vanilla, almond extract and buttermilk. Continue to beat. Sift dry ingredients in a bowl and make a well. Pour batter into it and mix well. Let chill overnight. Roll out and with large round cookie cutter. Sprinkle cookies with sugar. Preheat oven to 450º. Bake 8 minutes on a greased baking sheet.
