"As viscous as motor oil swirled in a swamp, redolent of burnt bell peppers nested in by incontinent mice and a finish reminiscent of the dregs of a stale can of Coca-Cola that someone has been using as an ashtray. Not a bad drink, though."--Excerpt from "The Moose Turd Wine Tasting" by T. A. Nonymous

Directions:
In a small bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda; set aside. Combine the butter with both sugars and beat on medium speed until light and fluffy. Reduce speed to low and add the salt, vanilla, and eggs. Beat until well mixed, about 1 minute. Add flour mixture and mix until just combined. Add chocolate chips and any or all of the add ons and mix thoroughly.

Drop by tablespoons-size balls of dough about 2 inches apart on baking sheets lined with parchment paper.

Bake in 350º oven until golden brown around the edges, but still soft in the center (8-10 minutes). Cool on a wire rack.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
You can take the original cookie recipe and replace the chocolate chips with pecans, coconut, dried fruit, candy bits, oatmeal or anything else you think of.

I keep the chocolate chips and add pecans, coconut, and oatmeal to mine. A family favorite!
