2 cups shortening
2 cups sugar
4 cups flour (17 oz.)
1 egg
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla extract
1tsp salt

3 Tbsp granulated sugar to roll dough in.
½ cup powdered sugar for sprinkling

Directions:
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350º
2. Measure dry ingredients and whisk well
3. Prepared cookie sheet by lining with parchment paper.
4. In a mixing bowl, cream shortening and sugar until combined.
5. Add the egg and mix well.
6. Add flour a little at a time and mix well
7. Roll dough into balls and place on cookie sheet.
8. Place a few tablespoons of granulated sugar on a plate.
9. Rub some shortening on the bottom of a glass. Dip glass bottom in sugar
10. Using the glass flatten cookie balls
11. Bake for 15 -18 minutes or until lightly brown.
12. Cool cookies on cookie sheet for 5 minutes then move to wire rack and cool completely.
13. Once cooled use a strainer to sprinkle the cookies with powdered sugar.
14 Store in airtight container

Add 1 tsp almond extract and 1 cup chopped pecans
