For Jar:

1.5 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking Powder
1/2 tsp baking Soda
1/4 tsp Salt
1 cup M&Ms or chocolate chips, dried cranberries, nuts, etc
1/3 cup light brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar

For Baking:

1/2 cup butter- Melted
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 tbsp milk
1 whole egg

For the Cookie Mix in the Jar:

- Using a funnel, put flour into the jar, shake just a bit or tap to allow it to settle.
- Next, add baking powder, baking soda and salt, shake a bit to settle
- Add M&M's *
- Add brown sugar, shake a bit
- Add sugar, shake a bit
- Finally, add a tiny layer of M&M's or such at the top, shake a bit more, but not too much that they sink into the sugar.
- Once ingredients are layered nicely, place label inside and add lid.

For Baking Cookies:

- Dump the jar of cookie mix into a large bowl
- Beat the egg & butter in a separate bowl, then add to the cookie mix
- Add vanilla & milk
- Mix with hand mixer or wooden spoon until well blended
- Place on a cookie sheet lined with a silpat mat or greased
- Flatten just a bit with the palm of your hand or the bottom of the mason jar
- For extra treat, place 2-3 M&M's (or other goodies) on top
- Repeat until the cookie sheet is filled, making sure the cookies are not touching each other or too close together
- Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes or until slightly brown on the bottom

* Just make sure you use no more than 1 cup of whatever you put in the jar (M&M, chocolate chips etc); otherwise the cookies will be too soft and won't cook well

These are great as gifts - quick instructions to use when using at gifts -

Mix with 1/2 cup melted butter, 1 egg, 2 tbsp milk, 1 tsp vanilla. Spoon onto parchment lined cookie sheet, bake at 350 f for 8-10 minutes
