Great Grandma's Rice Pudding Recipe

1 quart milk
1/2 cup sugar
4 tablespoons uncooked rice (not Minute Rice)
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
2 tablespoons butter

Combine all ingredients in the morning and let stand at room temperature until ready to bake. (Mix the night before if you're going to bake in the morning.) Put into greased 1 quart casserole. Bake at 350 for 2 1/2 - 3 hours until thick and creamy. Keep stirring browned top into pudding as it bakes.
