Ingredients:
Ingredients:
3 cups plain flour
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup butter, softened
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp Cream of Tartar

Mix butter and sugar until creamy, add egg. Add remaining ingredients. Roll out dough and cut out cookies. I normally cut these using a small circle to make a dainty tea cookie. Carla uses this recipe to make Thumbprint cookies. She rolls dough into a small ball and makes an indentation with her thumb prior to baking. The indentation is then filled with frosting....these are similar to Peggy Ann Bakery's Thumbprint Cookies. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.

Personal Notes:
Carla and Leanna were introduced to these cookies at a tea at my house when Leanna was a little girl. They thought I had bought them at a bakery. Leanna left with a bag of cookies to take home.
