1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
dash of salt
flour (start with 2 cups)
1 c. buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
1)Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs.
2) Sift together baking soda, baking powder, salt, and flour.
3) Add flour mixture alternately with buttermilk. Use enough flour to hold up a spoon.
4) Chill a couple of hours.
5) Pat or roll lightly. (Can make these like biscuits)
6) Bake at 350º for 8-10 minutes.

You may sprinkle them with sugar also.

These cookies are more like cake than cookies. Using enough flour to roll out, but not too much is the trick. The recipe came from an older lady at a church we attended while living in Michigan for a short time. She was a wonderful "grandmotherly" type, Godly woman! I could never make them quite like she did.
