2 cups flour

1 cup sugar

pinch of salt

½ tsp. baking powder

½ cup shortening

1 egg, unbeaten

2 tbsp. milk

2 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º. Grease cookie sheet lightly with cooking spray.

Sift together flour, sugar, salt and baking powder. Add shortening, and cut in with pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in egg, milk and vanilla. Knead dough lighlty to blend ingredients. Divide dough into four parts. Roll each on a floured surface less than ¼ inch thick. Cut with floured cookie cutters and place 1 inch apart on cookie sheet. Bake for 6 minutes or until edges are brown. Cool. Decorate with frosting.

¼ cup flour

1½ tsp. vanilla

6 tbsp. water

1 lb. powdered sugar

Cream first five ingredients; add powdered sugar. Whip until fluffy.
