1 c. sugar
1 c. milk
4 egg yolks, saving whites for the meringue
2 tsp. vanilla, separated
2 T. cornstarch
1 box vanilla wafers
5-6 bananas

Directions:
Directions:
1. Layer banana slices and vanilla wafers in casserole dish, starting with vanilla wafers, then a layer of bananas, alternating for several layers, ending with vanilla wafers.
2. Bring sugar, milk, egg yolks, 1 tsp. vanilla extract and cornstarch to a boil, stirring constantly until thick. Pour mixture over bananas and cookies.
3. Beat whites and add a bit of salt. 1when stiff, add 3 T. of sugar, one T. at a time. Add 1 tsp if vanilla extract and beat well.
4. Bake in 350º oven until meringue is brown.
