Directions:In a large bowl, sift some self-rising flour, scoop some lard and add it to the middle of the flour and work a portion of the flour and lard between your fingers until it come up like a coarse meal. Then make a "well" in your bowl with the flour, pour some cold water a little at a time and mix with the lard mound with your hands until you get a dough ball (dough will be sticky and lumpy but that is normal). Make sure you "flour your hands". Pinch off a section of dough (about a golf ball size) and roll into a ball with your hands, then lightly pat them onto a greased baking pan or cookie sheet. Repeat until you use all the dough. Leave a little finger print on each biscuit. Make sure you have a 5 gallon flour bucket to store your goods!

Notes: You may ask, "Why no measurements?" Well, grandma never measured when she made biscuits. She would know how much to use by how many mouths she would feed that day (lol). Also, when she patted the biscuits you could still see the imprint of her fingers when the biscuits were done. She also used a cast iron skillet to bake the biscuits, I think that made them turn out better. You try it and decide for yourself!
