2/4 pound pitted dates
1 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
2 level Tbsp cornstarch
1/8 tsp salt
Pie crust for top/bottom

Directions:
Cut dates in half. Add other ingredients and cook until thick. Makes 1 two crust pie. Very rich but delicious. Bake 425 degrees for 25-30 minutes.

Great-Grandma Eva was Grandma Dorothy's mother and at the time of this submission was living in Blooming Prairie. This recipe of hers came from a 1950 American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 327 cookbook from Volga, Iowa. Grandma Dorothy was born and grew up in Volga, just across the Minnesota border.
