Sift together 4 cups flour, 4 level tsp baking powder, and 1 pinch of salt; set aside. Mix 1 cup shortening and 2 cups sugar. Beat 3 eggs to break yoke and add to sugar and shortening mixture. Alternately stir in flour mix, ˝ cup sweet milk, and 2 tsp vanilla. Dough will be very stiff. Flour board and roll out as desired or roll into small balls and flatten with glass dipped in sugar. Preheat oven at 400 degrees, turn to 350 degrees when ready to bake. Bake on greased cookie sheet.
