1 cup shortening
1 ½ cups sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
2 ¾ flour
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. cream of tartar (corn syrup can be used)
1/2 tst. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º. Cream shortening and sugar, add eggs one at a time, beating mixture add vanilla. Add dry ingredients, continue beating mixture until it is thoroughly blended. Form into balls the size of a walnut, roll in granulated sugar, place on ungreased baking pan. Place pan in a 350º oven. Bake 10 - 12 minutes.

To make more colorful cookies, roll the dough in colored sugar. Have fun!
