2 sticks butter
1/2 cup sugar
2 1/3 cup flour
1/4 tsp salt

Directions:

Cream butter. Gradually add sugar and beat until light and fluffy.

Work in flour and salt with fingertips until well combined and crumbly.

Press evenly into a 9-inch baking pan lined with parchment paper. Prick all over with ford.

Bake in preheated 300º oven 50 - 60 minutes until golden brown.

Cool and cut into bars.

Put in laundry and bake shortbread. it will be done before you need to fold.

In the 1950's at Hawaii elementary schools, this shortbread was handed out at recess - warm, buttery, thick and delicious. For many kids, this and a small carton of milk was "breakfast" every day.
