1/2 c sorghum
1/4 c honey
1/2 c butter
2 lg eggs
4 c all purpose flour
3/4 c white sugar
1/2 c brown sugar
2 t anise extract
2 t cinnamon
1 1/2 t cardamom
1 1/2 t baking soda
1 t cloves
1 t nutmeg
1 t ginger ground
1 t black pepper
1/2 t salt
1 c confectioners’ sugar for dusting

Directions:

Oven 325º
Saucepan over med heat add sorghum, honey, butter. Cook and stir until creamy. Remove and allow to cool to room temp. Beat in eggs.
Combine flour, sugars, spices, pepper, salt. Add liquid mixture and combine. Refrig dough about 2 hours.
Roll dough into acorn sized balls and place 1 in apart on baking sheets.
Bake until firm to touch and slight cracking 10-15 min. Cool on sheet briefly then remove to wire rack to cool completely.
Dust with confectioners’ sugar and store in airtight container.
