1 16 oz macaroni pasta
1 small red onion
mayonnaise
salt and pepper (Ma would use garlic salt)
red wine vinegar

Directions:

Boil pasta according to packing instructions
Drain and set aside to cool
Dice onion into small pieces and add to cooled pasta
add Salt and pepper to taste
add vinegar to taste, I add a least a couple of tablespoons of vinegar. You can add more once it's set, and all the flavors have blended together.
Add mayonnaise to taste. this will absorb while it sits so you may need to add more before serving.

Ma was not a big measurer of ingredients so it's all to taste. She liked it a bit tangy so more vinegar would be added. She also didn't like it dry so additional mayonnaise would be added as needed. This is best if it sits overnight.
