1c sugar + more for rolling dough balls in
1 1/2 sticks butter
1 egg
4tbsp molasses
2tsp baking soda
1tsp ground cinnamon
1 1/4tsp ground ginger
1tsp allspice
2c flour

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º

Mix sugar and butter on medium high speed for 3 min till light and fluffy, scrapping the bowl halfway through

Beat in egg and molasses

Gradually add sifted dry ingredients.

Use a medium size cookie scoop to portion dough, roll in sugar before placing on parchment lined cookie sheet

Bake at 350º for 10-12 minutes (depending on the size of dough ball) or until golden brown.

Remove from oven and let cool completely on cooling rack

These are the FAMOUS Molasses cookies that Grandma Miller baked every year from the first day of Fall through New Years day. It was my favorite then and quickly became a favorite of our family as well.

These can be made ahead and allowed to firm up on a cookie sheet in the freezer and then placed in freezer bags so you can thaw and bake whenever you need a plate to take to a party or gift to a neighbor or dare I say eat frozen.
