Ingredients: 1c sugar + more for rolling dough balls in 1 1/2 sticks butter 1 egg 4tbsp molasses 2tsp baking soda 1tsp ground cinnamon 1 1/4tsp ground ginger 1tsp allspice 2c flour

Directions:Preheat oven to 350º
Mix sugar and butter on medium high speed for 3 min till light and fluffy, scrapping the bowl halfway through
Beat in egg and molasses
Gradually add sifted dry ingredients.
Use a medium size cookie scoop to portion dough, roll in sugar before placing on parchment lined cookie sheet
Bake at 350º for 10-12 minutes (depending on the size of dough ball) or until golden brown.
Remove from oven and let cool completely on cooling rack |

Notes: These are the FAMOUS Molasses cookies that Grandma Miller baked every year from the first day of Fall through New Years day. It was my favorite then and quickly became a favorite of our family as well.
These can be made ahead and allowed to firm up on a cookie sheet in the freezer and then placed in freezer bags so you can thaw and bake whenever you need a plate to take to a party or gift to a neighbor or dare I say eat frozen.
