Ingredients:
Ingredients:
8 cups unsifted all purose flour
1 tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt
1 stick butter (½ cup) softened
2 eggs beaten
3 heaping tsp yeast dissolved in 1 cup warm water
3 cups milk (warmed)
4 cups Conola oil

Topping
1 cup sugar
¼ cup ground cinnamon (optional)

OR
2 cups powdered sugar

Directions:
Directions:
In a small bowl, mix sugar and cinnamon for topping and set aside.

Dissolve the yeast in warm water, mixing well until fully dissolved.

In a large bowl, add flour, sugar, butter, salt, eggs and dissolved yeast.

Add milk one cup at a time, stirring mixture together by hand. The mixture is very sticky, and will have the consistency of a soft marshmallow.

Wash your hands, add a small amount of oil to your hands and rub it on top of the dough so it won't stick to the plastic wrap you will place on top of the bowl. Let covered bowl stand for 1 hr 45 minutes. The dough may rise out of the bowl, that is ok.

Deflate the dough by stirring it 5 or 6 times with a wooden spoon. Cover the dough again and let it stand for anther 45 minutes for the second rising.

After the second rising, heat a large frying pan with the oil for approx. 5 minutes, test by placing a small pinch of the dough into the oil, if it fries and rises to the top the oil is ready.

Add 1 heaping tbsp of the dough to the oil at a time, do not overcrowd the pan, approx 10-12 at a time. Fry until golden, approx. 3-4 minutes then turn them over once to them golden on the other side. Drain on a paper towel for a few minutes then roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture or sprinkle with the powdered sugar.
