1 Cup shortening (I used 2 Sticks of butter)
1Cup sugar
1 Egg
1 Cup molasses
4 Cups flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon cloves

Directions:

Heat oven to 350 degrees Bake 18-20 minutes

Cream together shortening (butter) and sugar until light in color

Add egg and blend well

Stir in molasses and beat until smooth

Whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, ginger, cinnamon and cloves

Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients until completely combined

Chill for 2 hours

Roll into 1-inch balls or use small cookie scoop and roll in sugar

Place 2-inches apart on greased cookie sheet and bake
