1/2 c. molasses
1/2 c. honey
1/4 c. shortening
1/4 c. margarine
2 eggs (room temp)
4 c. all-purpose flour
3/4 c. white sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 1/2 tsp. ground cardamom
1/1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. ground nutmeg 1 tsp. ground allspice 1 tsp. ground white pepper
1 tsp. ground cloves 1 tsp. ground ginger
2 tsp. anise extract
2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt

*1/2 c. powdered sugar for dusting on cooled cookies.

Directions:

Stir molasses, honey, shortening, and margarine in sauce pan over med heat. Cook and stir until creamy. Remove from heat, cool to room temp. then stir in eggs and anise extract. Mix remaining ingredients then add the cooled molasses mixture until well combined. Refrigerate for 2 hours. Roll by hand into acorn-sized balls, and bake for 10-15 min at 325º.

*Dust with powdered sugar when completely cooled.
