Ingredients:
Ingredients:
Fruit Mix:
6 cups pecan halves
1 lb candied cherries
8 oz candied pineapple
2 cups chopped dates
Dust with flour and stir.
Cookie Batter:
1 cup butter
1 ½ cup brown sugar
3 eggs
½ cup buttermilk*
3 cups Flour
1 tsp Soda
½ tsp Salt
2 tsp Cinnamon
½ tsp Cloves
½ tsp Allspice

Directions:
Directions:
1. Mix all the fruit and dust with flour to keep fruit pieces from sticking to each other. Mix in nuts.
2. Make cookie batter by creaming butter, sugar, and eggs together.
3. Mix together the flour, soda, salt, and spices Add the buttermilk and the flour mixture to the butter mixture and combine.
4. Stir the cookie batter into Fruit Mix. The dough will be stiff, there is barely enough cookie batter to cover all the fruit, but that's the way it should be.
5. Scoop ¼ cup spoonfuls of batter onto cookie sheets (leave in a mound).
6. Bake at 325 for 20 - 25 minutes.

*Sour milk can be substituted for buttermilk. Make sour milk by adding 2 Tbls lemon juice to milk, and let sit until milk starts to curdle.

Personal Notes:
This was Grandma Bonnie's recipe that Grandma Vicki always made at Christmas. Not everyone likes them, but those that do, love them.
