1/2 C unsalted butter, room temperature
1/2 C granulated sugar
3/4 C brown sugar, packed
1 large egg
2 tsp vanilla extract
11/4 C all-purpose flour
1 tsp kosher salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
2 C chocolate chips

Optional Add-ins:
substitute larger chocolate chips for more chocolate flavor
1 C chopped pecans
1/4-1/2 C toffee chips

preheat the oven to 350º. Line cookie sheets with parchment paper.
Whisk together the flour, salt, baking soda and set aside.
Using a hand mixer, beat together the butter and sugars until fluffy. Add the egg and beat until combined. Mix in Vanilla Extract.
Mix in the flour mixture until combined. Don't overmix. With a large spoon, stir in chocolate chips and nuts or toffee chips if used.
Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls about 1 inch apart. Bake for 8 minutes or until brown on the edges and done in the center. Allow to cool about 3 minutes in the pan, then remove to a wire rack to cool.
