1 C Sugar
2 Tbs Shortening
2 Eggs
4 Tbs Baking cocoa
1/2 C Milk
Pinch Salt
1 C Flour
1 tsp Vanilla
1/2-1 C nuts, chopped

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs, cocoa, and milk. Stir in flour and salt. Add vanilla and nuts and pour into greased and floured baking pan. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes. Frost with chocolate frosting while still warm.

Beat mixture until it changes color from dark brown to light brown. Grandma said this adds air to the mixture which makes them light and cake like.
