2¾ cups of flour
1 tsp. baking soda
½ tsp. salt
1 cup (2 sticks) softened butter or margarine
¾ cup firmly packed brown sugar
¾ cup granulated sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2 large eggs
1 cup coarsely chopped nuts (optional)
12 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions:

Beat butter and sugars until creamy. Beat in vanilla and eggs. Add salt and baking soda and blend. Gradually mix in flour. Stir in nuts and chips by hand. Drop from teaspoon, 2 inches apart, onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 375º for about 10 minutes or until golden brown.
