2 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 ½ tsp. baking powder
pinch salt
2/3 cup butter or oil
2 ¼ cup brown sugar
3 eggs
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
8 oz. chocolate chips

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º Degrees F. and lightly grease a 9" x 13" pan.

In a medium bowl, sift together the dry ingredients.

In a separate medium bowl, cream sugar and shortening together.

Add eggs alternatively to sugar mixture, beating well.

Add dry ingredients to mixture, then nuts and chips.

Bake for 25-30 minutes.

Half Recipe: use 2 eggs and 8" x 8" pan.

This is my Grandma Hilda's recipe that my mother grew up devouring on special occasions with her two sisters, and my sister and I did the same as children. I now make this recipe with my children and hope they will do the same with theirs. My happy place is baking with family in the kitchen!
