1½ c. shortening
1 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar
3 eggs
4 c. sifted flour
¾ tsp. salt
2 tsp. cinnamon
½ pound chopped nuts
1 tsp. baking soda
1 T. hot water

Directions:
Directions:
Cream the shortening. Add sugars and cream thoroughly. Add eggs one at a time. Beat well after each addition. Sift together flour, salt and cinnamon. Dredge nuts with part of it. Mix soda with hot water. Add flour, soda mixture and floured nuts to creamed mixture. Combine. Chill slightly. Make three rolls about 2" in diameter. Wrap in waxed paper; chill dough in refrigerator over night. Slice about ⅛ -¼ inch thick. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 350º for 10 minutes. Remove immediately.
