2 cups butter, softened
2 cups granulated sugar
2 tsp baking powder
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
1 (15-oz) can pumpkin
4 cups flour

Directions:
Directions:
Beat the butter in an electric mixer for 30 seconds; add sugar and eggs and beat until fluffy. Add baking powder, soda, salt, vanilla, and spices. Mix in pumpkin, then stir in flour.
Drop dough by heaping teaspoons 2 inches apart on parchment-lined cookie sheets. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until tops are set. Transfer to wire racks to cool. Frost with Pumpkin Spice Frosting.
 

Pumpkin Spice Frosting

½ cup butter
½ cup packed brown sugar
¼ cup milk
1 tsp vanilla
3-4 cups icing sugar
½ tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp ginger
¼ tsp allspice
¼ tsp nutmeg
¼ tsp cloves

Directions:

In small saucepan, heat butter and brown sugar until melted and smooth. Transfer to mixer and beat in remaining ingredients, adding enough icing sugar to make a nice consistency. Spread on cookies immediately as frosting will set. Sprinkle with additional nutmeg if desired.
