Rich Butter Cookie Dough

½ cup butter, softened
¾ cup granulated sugar
1 egg
1½ teaspoons vanilla extract
1½ cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt

Directions:
Directions:
Beat butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl with an electric mixer until mixture is light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla; beat well. Add flour, baking powder and salt and beat
just until mixture is smooth and blended. Gather dough into a ball, wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate until dough is firm enough to roll, about 1 hour.
After dough is chilled, on a lightly floured surface, roll dough ⅛ inch thick and cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters. Transfer to a greased baking sheet and bake in a preheated 350º oven until cookies are very lightly browned, about 10 to 12 minutes. Cool cookies on a rack. When cool, ice cookies with Decorator Icing.

Ingredients:

2 cups powdered sugar
2 tablespoons melted butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
About 2 tablespoons whipping cream
Food Coloring (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Put sugar, butter and vanilla in a small mixing bowl. Beat ingredients with an electric mixer, adding enough cream to make a smooth, spreadable icing. If desired, tint icing different colors with food coloring. Ice cookies as desired.
