1/2 cup butter, soft
1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 1/4 cups flour (may need 1-2 tbsp more)
3/4 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/3 cup sour cream
1 3/4 cup cashews
Frosting
1/2 cup butter
1/4 tsp. vanilla
3 tbsp. evaporated milk
2 cups powdered sugar (or a little more)

Cream butter and sugar well. Beat in egg and vanilla. Add dry ingredients alternately with the sour cream. Mix well. Carefully fold in the nuts. Make test cookie to check amount of flour needed. Drop by small teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 375º for 10 minutes. Cool and top with frosting.

Frosting: Lightly brown the butter in sauce pan, remove from heat, add milk and vanilla. Stir in sugar and beat until smooth and thick enough to spread. Top each cookie with a cashew.
