1 cup water
2 1/2 cups raisins
1 cup shortening
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup chopped nuts
5 cups flour
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon allspice
3/4 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoon soda
2 teaspoon baking powder

Directions:
Directions:
Boil raisins and water together for 5 minutes. Cream shortening, sugar, and vanilla. Drain water from raisins and use liquid alternately with flour and spices ( dry ingredients.) which have been sifted with flour. Add beaten eggs to shortening and sugar after they have been creamed. Mix well and make the size of a walnut.

Bake at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes
