1 1/2 cup all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup butter or margarine or butter soft (1 stick )
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
1/2 cup raisins, chopped dates, or nuts (optional)

preheat oven to 350 degrees measure sifted flour. sift flour again with the baking soda, and flour, set aside. put butter, sugar, brown sugar, egg, and vanilla in a mixing bowl and beat thoroughly. add flour mixture and mix well. add rolled oats and other optional ingredients. stir until mixed. roll dough into small spheres and place on greased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart. bake for 10-15 min. the cookies will be golden-brown when they are done. they should be soft to the touch
