Grandma's Bread Pudding Recipe

16 oz. (about 17 slices) old bread - if you have fresh bread dry it out a bit in a low oven. Torn up into pieces.
1¼ c. sugar
4 large eggs
4 c. milk
2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg

Sauce:
1 c. sugar
2 T. cornstarch
1 c. boiling water
1 stick cut up butter
2 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º and spray a 9"X13" pan.
Put torn bread in large bowl.
Beat eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, 9"X13" pan and sprinkle liberally with cinnamon on top.
Place 6 pats of butter across the mixture. Bake 50 minutes.

Sauce:
Mix 1c. sugar and 2 T. cornstarch in a pan. Add 1c. of boiling water and cook over medium heat until it thickens. Remove from heat and add 1 stick of cut up butter.
Stir until completely melted and then stir in vanilla. Serve over top of the pudding.
