Grind 1 lb. raisins and ½ lb. nuts (peanuts) Crumble together with hands.
6 cups flour
2 cups granulated sugar
2 cups brown sugar
2½ cups quick oats
2 cups shortening (half butter)
½ Tbs. salt
½ Tbs. nutmeg
½ Tbs. cinnamon
2 Tbs. baking powder
1½ Tbs. soda
½ cup molasses

Then add raisins and nuts to dry ingredients, and mix well. Beat 3 eggs, ½ cup molasses.Then add 1 cup sour milk. Add this mixture to dry mix. Let stand covered, in refridgerator overnight. Next AM, beat 1 egg . Roll out cookies to ¼ inch. then cut, brush tops with egg. Bake 350º for 10 to 15 minutes. Can use sugar and water for glaze instead of egg. Use lightly greased sheets.
