1 cup white sugar
1 cup shortening (Crisco)
2 eggs
2¾ cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Thoroughly cream shortening, sugar and eggs. Stir in sifted flour, cream of tartar soda and salt. Refrigerate for an hour and then roll out and cut into desired shapes. Bake 375º for about 10 minutes.

Cookies are good plain but our family likes to ice them and decorate them with sprinkles and candies.
