Orange Juice Cookies Recipe

1 C Sour Cream
1 tsp baking soda
1 C shortening
2 C sugar
2 eggs
4-1/2 C sifted flour
2 medium oranges
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
Directions:
Directions:
Mix soda, sour cream. Cream shortening and sugar and add eggs, orange juice and rind. Add to sour cream mix.

Sift flour, baking powder, salt. Add alternately with sour cream mixture. Add vanilla after all mixed together.

Place cookies on baking sheet and bake 12 minutes at 400º.

Icing: 1-1/2 C powdered sugar, 2 T orange juice, 3 T melted butter, 1 T grated orange rind.

Combine above until smooth and put on cookies while warm.

I don't have any idea where this recipe comes from but the sound good. I don't think I have ever made it as well. It does seem strange that it makes "10 dozen cookies". That's a lot of cookies. So I threw it in just to have it around to remind me to see if it really does make that many. It never says if you drop by a spoonful on a cookie sheet or what. If anyone finds out, let the rest of us know.
