5 1/2 cups flour
3/4 cups butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 tbs baking powder
4 eggs
1/2 cup milk
1 tsp lemon extract
1 tsp anise extract

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 325º

In a large bowl cut butter into flour
Stir in sugar and baking powder
Stir well

In a small bowl beat eggs, milk and extracts.

Add to flour mixture and stir until moist.
Knead on flour covered board for approx 2 minutes

Refrigerate dough for some time.

Break off piece and roll onto board into 6" pencil thin strips.
Twist into a loose knot.

Bake on ungreased cookie sheet for 20 minutes or until slightly browned

Sharon Fowler does a pretty good version of Grandma's knot cookies.
