½ cup butter
½ cup shortening
1½ cups sugar
3 eggs
1 cup milk
4 cups flour
1½ teaspoons baking powder
1 small bottle cherries and juice
¼ pound citron
1 teaspoon lemon extract

Directions:
Directions:
Chop cherries, reserve juice. Cream butter and shortening with sugar. Add eggs, beat well. Sift flour and baking powder. Add alternately with milk. Add citron, cherries, lemon extract, and cherry juice, enough to form cake consistency. Halfway through baking check to make sure the top of the cake isn’t to brown. If it is to brown cover with aluminum foil for the remainder of cooking time. Bake in well greased and floured tube pan at 350º for 50-60 minutes
