1 cup sugar
½ cup (1 stick) butter - softened
1 egg
¼ tsp vanilla
¼ tsp black walnut flavoring (optional)
½ tsp baking soda
2 cups flour
½ cup chopped black walnuts

Directions:
Directions:

Cream butter and sugar then add egg, flavorings, and baking soda. Beat until well blended. Add flour and chopped nuts. Mix well and shape into 2 rolls the desired diameter of cookies. Wrap rolls in wax paper or cellophane wrap and refrigerate at least 4-5 hours or overnight. Remove paper and cut into slices ¼ inch to ½ inch thick. Place slices on cookie sheet and bake in 350° oven 9-10 minutes. Makes 3-4 dozen.
