3 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
½ tsp baking soda
1 tsp nutmeg
1 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
Milk (only a couple of tablespoons. Enough to roll out.)

Directions:
Directions:
Sift dry ingredients. (Not sugar.) Cut in shortening. Add sugar, eggs, vanilla, and milk.
On a lightly floured surface, roll out dough and cut into desired shapes. Place cut cookies onto baking sheet. If cookies will not be frosted, sprinkle with sugar before baking. Bake at 350º for 10 minutes.
