Bottom Layer:
1 cup butter, softened
3 tablespoons sugar
1 ½ cups sifted flour
Top Layer:
3 egg yolks
2 ¼ cups light brown sugar
¼ cup coconut
1 cup chopped nuts
3 egg whites
Powder sugar (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 375. Grease 13x9inch pan. Cream butter, and then add sugar. Mix in flour and blend until smooth. Press dough into bottom of pan. Bake 15 minutes. While baking prepare top layer. Beat egg yolks until thick and lemon colored. Slowly add sugar. Blend in coconut and nuts. Beat egg whites until stiff. Fold into mixture. Spread over bottom layer, and continue baking 20-25 minutes. Cool for 10 minutes. Cut into bars. If desired, sift powder sugar over cooled bars.
