1 Cup Shortening or Margarine
3/4 Cup Brown Sugar
3/4 Cup White Sugar
1 Tsp. Baking Soda
2 Tsp. Hot Water
2 Eggs
1 1/2 Cups Flour
1 Tsp. Salt
3 Cups Oatmeal, Quick Oats are OK
1 Tsp. Vanilla
1 12 Ounce Bag Chocolate Chips

Mix together. I suggest using a stand mixer as this is a heavy batter.. Drop by spoonfuls onto a baking sheet. Bake 12-15 minutes at 350º

If you have ever had these you know that they are delicious! The oatmeal makes them chunky.

One year Mom made these with the mini chocolate chips and we did not like that. Mom went back to the regular size chocolate chips the next Christmas
