4 cups flour
1½ tsp salt
2 tsp baking powder
4 tbsp shortening
1½ cup milk

Directions:
Directions:
Combine dry ingredients in a bowl and cut in the shortening; mix well.

Make a hole in the center of the dry ingredients. Add a small amount of milk at a time and work into a dough.

Knead the dough about 5 minutes until smooth, cover, and set aside for 10-20 minutes.

Heat griddle to medium heat.

Form balls about egg size and roll each ball into a circle about ⅛ thick.

Place tortillas on the griddle, about 1 minute each side, till lightly speckled on each side.
