1 c. Sugar
1 c. Brown Sugar
1 c. Shortening
2 eggs
1 tsp. Vanilla
2 c. Flour
1 tsp. Baking Powder
1 tsp. Baking Soda
1/2 tsp. Salt
2 c. Quick Oats
2 c. Candied Orange Slices, chopped
1 c. Coconut (opt)
1.2 c. chopped nuts (opt.)

Directions:
Directions:
Cream the shortening, sugars, vanilla, and eggs in a large bowl. Add the rest of the dry ingredients until mixed. Fold in the candies, nuts, and coconut. Make into balls and flatten with a glass. Bake in a 350º oven. Bake until brown.

These were always a favorite growing up. It might be hard to find the candied jelly like orange slices but it is worth looking just for this recipe.
