4 cups flour
1 ½ cups butter (Aunt Stella used lard, which even tho not too healthy, made for delicious cookies)
1 ½ cups granulated sugar
¾ cup brown sugar
1 ½ teaspoon soda
3 eggs
½ teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 cup nuts
1 cup chocolate chips

Directions:

Cream butter and sugars. Add eggs & vanilla. Mix in dry ingredients. Stir in nuts & chocolate chips. Mix just until blended for best results. Spray cookie sheet with coating or grease & then roll dough into balls & place on sheet. Bake just until done or slightly underdone if you like your cookies softer.

Bake @ 375º for 8-10 minutes just till done. Do not overbake.

If anything was better than our great Aunt Stella's peanut butter cookies, it was her chocolate chip cookies. When I was two, she sent some over for me. Mama said I wasn't eating them & after a couple of days, she asked me what was wrong with me & the cookies Aunt Stella made for me. I replied, "I don't like those--they have bugs in them!!!" After she convinced me it wasn't bugs, I've been a fan ever since!!! Barbara, our cousin Nancy, & I ate many a cookie served up with farm fresh milk for dipping @ Aunt Stella's table.
